Deterministic Citability Scorer

Score page content by how likely AI systems are to cite it. Uses a rubric-based analysis: answer quality, self-containment, structure, statistical density, and uniqueness. Passages in the 134–167 word range tend to be cited most often.

Tool execution is available for logged-in users and visitors who've completed a free StructIQ scan.

What "citability" means in AI search

When AI systems answer questions, they sample from many passages across the web but only a few passages become explicit citations or recommended sources. Highly citable passages are self-contained, direct, factually specific, and easy to quote.

This scorer doesn't guess what an LLM "likes"—it uses a deterministic rubric based on word count, structure, statistical density, and uniqueness to estimate how citation‑ready each passage is.

How to use the results

  • Use Top citable passages as models when writing new content—note their length, clarity, and use of specifics.
  • Review Weak passages and decide which ones deserve a rewrite or merge into stronger sections.
  • Look at the breakdown (Answer, Self-contained, Structure, Stats, Uniqueness) to see which dimension needs the most work.

Improving citability on your pages

  • Open each weak passage in your CMS and tighten it into a 130–180 word, single‑topic explanation.
  • Lead with a clear definition or answer sentence, then follow with evidence, examples, or stats.
  • Replace vague phrases ("many", "some", "often") with concrete numbers, dates, or named sources where possible.
  • Make sure a reader could copy‑paste the paragraph into an answer without needing extra context around it.

Important notes

  • This tool identifies opportunities to rewrite content—it does not guarantee any specific AI citation.
  • Use it alongside your StructIQ scan results to prioritize which pages and sections to improve first.
  • Re‑run the scorer after content edits to see whether citability scores and grade distribution improve.
